Herzogenaurach, January 13, 2023 – adidas today launches the new Melbourne Tennis Collection SS23, a sportswear line featuring bold, colorful prints inspired by plants and nature. Some of the elements feature a multi-layer mesh in a contrasting color that creates a moiré effect when moving, helping to hide the player’s movement and position on the pitch.
Annette Steingass, Senior Director of Tennis & Court Sports Apparel, commented: “We’ve taken nature as inspiration for the design and construction of this collection – while harnessing adidas technologies designed for high performance. We’re thrilled that players will have the opportunity to express themselves on and off the court with this vibrant collection.”
DESIGNED TO REVIEW MATERIALS AND IMPROVE PERFORMANCE
Through innovation, adidas sees opportunities to tap into new resources. For these products, adidas turned to greenhouse gas technology. It uses captured industrial waste gases as new raw material. The CO2 is fermented into ethanol, which makes up 30% by weight of the polyester yarn. Adidas knits this yarn into various products, and now this carbon-based ethanol accounts for at least 15% of the weight of these garments.
In addition, the collection also features HEAT.RDY and Aeroready technologies. HEAT.RDY technology is designed to maximize airflow and optimal sweat distribution, while AEROREADY is made of moisture-wicking fabric that quickly wicks sweat to keep you feeling dry and helps players move freely and comfortably across the court move.
Introduced ahead of one of the most iconic tournaments on hard court, the SS23 Melbourne Tennis Collection is premiered on court by adidas athletes such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger Alassim, Garbigne Muguruza, Qiang Wang and Maria Sakkari, united by a passion for collaboration are. help make the world a better place.

Making my point on the tennis court is just as important as making a positive impact in the world, leaving a legacy that will last far beyond my sporting career. I’m excited to continue my tennis journey with adidas, a brand that is aligned with my purpose and values, embracing all the highs and the lows along the way.”
Stefanos Tsitsipas, elite tennis player, commented: “Using my voice to stand up for what I believe in is what’s most important to me. When my purpose matches my courage, there’s nothing that can stop me – on and off the court.”
