From her modeling success gracing the pages (and covers) of international publications such as Playboy and Maxim, to advocating in the breast cancer community with her book, “Sexy After Breast Cancer”, she is beautiful inside and out. Today we will dig into specific experiences like her two Marilyn Manson music videos working alongside Johnny Depp- a true Hollywood fairytale.
Hi Jocelyn, we are very excited to have you on this month’s cover!
I’m super excited to be featured! Thank you for having me.
Can you tell us what it took for you to accomplish so much in the entertainment industry?
It took many years of building my body of work, network, and most of all- never giving up. I knew I wanted to be a part of the entertainment industry from a young age and began modeling at only 15 years old. But even before that, my folks will tell you that I would have them sitting in the family room watching me perform on the fireplace hearth regularly.
Thats really cute. You have been practicing most of your life then?
With the exception of the months I was being treated for cancer, during chemo and my surgeries, I had gaps that I was honestly certain would be the end of my career. But somehow I have always fallen back into doing what I love.
And all the while building up your social media following?
Absolutely! When you’re stuck in bed, recovering from a treatment, social media is a great way to stay in touch with friends and have a virtual social life. So it was more of a side effect that I began growing my following. The support my fans give me means the world to me. It brings me joy every single day.
Wow, that makes a lot of sense. I hadn’t thought of it that way. Tell us about how much joy shooting with Marilyn Manson and Johnny Depp must have brought you.
Such a dream come true. I honestly had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had shot with the director, Bill Yukich, previously on a more local project…he is such an amazing creative..and when he asked me to work on Manson’s video I was all in. He never told me we would be shooting at the home of Johnny Depp. Once the hair and makeup people explained where we were, all I could think was, “I hope Johnny is home and I get to see him”.
So it was kept from you that you would be working with Johnny?
Yes, I think Bill wanted to be discrete but I also think he does things like this to get genuine reactions from his actors on set. So not only was I unaware that I’d be acting with Johnny, but I had NO IDEA I would have an intimate scene with him! It was a huge surprise!
Wow, what a wonderful surprise!
Indeed! I will never forget that day for the rest of my life. I’ve remained friends with them both and attended Manson’s birthday party, where Johnny and Manson and Courtney love performed a small private show. Johnny has invited me to some local performances where he plays in the Hollywood Vampires band. I NEVER let it out of my mind that I am extremely lucky and privileged to have these experiences. Life is crazy.
It is! You never know what is going to happen next!
I’ve been on top of the world, and very near death in my young life. All I know is that each moment is fleeting and precious. We must keep perspective and grow from all of it, good and bad alike.
