Please tell our readers a little about yourself.
I’m a cannabis cultivator and a music artist with a cannabis brand coming out soon, CARA KUSH. I am extremely passionate about using cannabis to help and heal society.
What motivated and inspired you to become a businesswoman?
Cannabis is an inspiration to me and I want to grow it the cleanest way possible which is deep water culture hydroponics, because that’s when the plant grows the best. My brand CARA KUSH will be one of the cleanest products on the market.
What challenges have you faced in your career as a businesswoman and how have you overcome them?
I’ve been accepted into the cannabis industry as an exceptional grower, where the industry doesn’t mind if you are a man or a woman. However, once I get to the investor side of the industry, if they are not in the culture they can’t see past gender. They don’t realize the cannabis culture is HOW you grow, not who you are, and I don’t grow McDonald’s.
What is your most recent project?
My most recent project is building out the inside of my new 10,000 square foot green zone cannabis facility in Orange County, which took me 10 years of hard work to acquire.
What have been your greatest achievements as a businesswoman?
My greatest achievement thus far is gaining top distribution for my products in the licensed market. It is a saturated market but thankfully I have distribution due to growing a niche product that people love, want and need to have on the shelves.
What are your professional objectives and goals in the medium and long term?
Medium term is to get my new facility built out and long term is to have my brand expand to Nationwide distribution with production facilities all over the United States, then eventually the world.
What advice would you give to other women who are just starting out with their projects?
Believe in yourself because no one is going to do it for you and by that I mean that you must be hands on with everything in the beginning. When you allow other people to handle important tasks for your business it turns into their project and the focus goes off your brand and onto another persons’ wants and needs.
Do you have any tricks/habits/routines that help you maintain a good balance between your professional and personal life?
I’m also a music artist and song writing and performing is my self expression, which helps to keep me mentally balanced. My latest music project is my album Kush Kronicles, currently in production. The first single off the album is CARA KUSH, about me and my brand, named after my brand and features Gangsta Boo from Three 6 Mafia.
Tell us about a habit that helps you be productive on a daily basis.
I have 2 beautiful rescue dogs named East and Hazel who I personally rescued out of East LA. They warm my heart every morning which starts my day off in the most positive way and the routine we have keeps me on track with my own schedule as well.
How do you face a challenge when you encounter it?
I used to face challenges by being passive towards them and having a knowing that my positivity and energy would allow things to progress but over the years I’ve learned you must approach all challenges, HEAD ON. If you don’t, they will linger and grow, no pun intended, ha ha.
If you could go back to the beginnings of your business, what advice would you give yourself?
The advice I’d give myself today would be to, KEEP CALM & CARRY ON..
What would be a phrase that inspires you? Do you have any anecdotes about it?
How funny, I just mentioned a phrase that inspires me in the above question! The above phrase is a tattoo on my older brother Alex’s chest. He recently passed away and Alex is with me always and forever now as my Guardian Angel, so I speak on him. I also have another brother Bryan, who originally taught me how to grow. I’d be nothing without my brothers, who are my inspiration.
What do you think is the best advice you’ve been given?
Smile all day even when you are stressed because it will bring positivity into your life and you will stay young forever!
