Qiana James is the founder of Friendly Faces Senior Care. Having aspired to be an entrepreneur since she was eight years old, she was finally able to make that dream a reality in 2010 when she formed Friendly Faces. The agency provides private pay in-home caregiver services for seniors; ensuring they can live independent, happy lives in the comfort of their own homes with dignity and grace.
Qiana and Friendly Faces have been honored with several awards and acknowledgments, including Provider of Choice, Employer of Choice, Top Home Care for Houston award, Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Company in America (2021 & 2022), BBB Award of Excellence, Houston Chronicle’s Top Workplaces award, as well as the 2022 Houston Business Journal’s Fast 100 & Women Who Mean Business awards.
She obtained a BBA in Entrepreneurship & Management from the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, and is also a graduate of the prestigious Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship, the No. 1 Entrepreneurial Program in the US.
Qiana is a healthcare executive with an acumen for networking. She has cultivated a solid circle of connections with those in the Houston business and philanthropic communities. She previously worked as a Major Account Executive for Concentra, a division of Select Medical. There she was able to help employers find solutions to their employee health needs by promoting health and wellness. At Concentra, she learned the importance of the patient experience within healthcare. She has a strong nature for coaching, mentoring, and leadership, and a very vigorous, determined, idealistic yet bubbly personality.
She is also the founder of The Doll Foundation, named after her late grandmother who was affectionately called “Mama Doll.” The Doll Foundation provides resources and education to caregivers and seniors in need of assistance, including tuition support, employment coaching, financial literacy, disaster relief, respite and companion care, family caregiver classes, and support groups.
In December of 2022, Qiana created and produced the inaugural Model of the Year Awards, a charity event that honored 10 Women of Influence who are “role models” through their contributions to society, volunteerism, and philanthropic efforts. The gala raised $72,000 for The Doll Foundation to further its commitment to ensuring seniors have access to the resources they need to thrive. And true to the theme, “The Art of Fashion”, in which guests were encouraged to don Met Gala-inspired lavish, whimsical, and eccentric pieces that reflect both fashion and art, the sold out event was one of Houston’s biggest and most exclusive nights in fashion! She currently serves on the board of Cap of Houston, The Perfect Connection, Cap of Pearland, and the Pearland Chamber of Commerce. In addition, she is involved in several philanthropic endeavors throughout the City of Houston and surrounding areas.
Qiana has a strong spiritual foundation and volunteers many hours every month in the door to door ministry helping others to learn more about the Bible and drawing closer to God. She strives to imitate the examples of Jehovah God and Jesus Christ, especially when it comes to showing love for others, how to treat people, and in her everyday dealings with life and business. Qiana credits her religious background for keeping her grounded and maintaining a modest mindset.
She treasures her marriage to her best friend for 14 years. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, fine dining, relaxing, and is a self-proclaimed “foodie” and “spa connoisseur.” Her advice to others is to always believe in yourself, and be your own biggest supporter.
