Johnte’ Archer-Adotama, JD is the founder and CEO of J. Archer Insurance Group/Archer Commercial Insurance Group, a multi-national independent insurance brokerage, and notable Arthur J. Gallagher Connect Partner, AON and Willis Towers Watson Diversity Solution partner.
Raised by a village of strong men and women, who at different times in her life made sure she was safe and cared for, today Johnte’ is a champion for girls and children. Johnte’ is no stranger to community service and advocacy.
Early on, she served as a law clerk with the Children’s Law Center in Los Angeles, CA, and Guardian Ad Litem with Child Advocates. Her distinguished background also includes participation in the Texas Legislative Internship Program, The Mickey Leland Congressional Internship Program, and she’s a Legislative Aide for the US House of Representatives. In 2015, Johnte’ started the SHE IS A CEO FOUNDATION. The nonprofit is purposed to encourage entrepreneurship, enrich character, and develop a love for charity among girls. Since its inception, the foundation has served over 1,000 middle school girls through its Entrepreneurship Academy, Conference, and Pitch Competition.
The advice she lives by and shares with others: Don’t give up! “Most people give up too soon, believing that they’ve done all they can do, and God has forgotten them. In time, your glory and success will be revealed… so just keep going!” Her own Christian faith is what Johnte’ credits as the biggest influence in her life. “My faith has been my ‘north star,’ and the reason why I believe that serving others is my purpose, and that service brings me the most joy.”
Supporting her community, girls and other women in business is Johnte’s passion. She serves as the finance chair for the board of St. John’s Church Downtown, and is a current board member of Temenos CDC/II & III, a Community Housing Development Corp. She is a supporter of Houston Furniture Bank, Bread of Life, Inc., Yellowstone Academy, and St. Jude’s. She proudly served as host committee member for the Heroes for Children’s annual fundraiser for families with children battling cancer entitled “Heroes & Handbags.”
The recipient of numerous accolades and recognition, including Top 30 Most Influential Women of Houston, The Vanguard Award during Houston’s Iconic fashion week, Top 10 Women In Business & Top 50 Female Attorney by the National Diversity Council, Johnte’ is most proud of her family. They’re spiritually led by husband Ike, and remain grounded by their 4-year-old son.
Most would be surprised to know that Johnte’ considers herself an ambivert – social when needed, but prefer to be alone to recharge before socializing. And if someone were to play the role of Johnte’ in a movie about her life: Zendaya! “She’s such a light and beautiful spirit… and a rising star.”
Johnte’ is a proud graduate of the University of Houston (Go Coogs!), and Pepperdine School of Law in Malibu, CA. She’s also proud to be a member of the illustrious Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
