Career
Born in Vilnius, Lithuania, when the country was still part of the Soviet Union, she grew up fascinated by film and theatre, and chose to study acting at the Lithuanian State Conservatory where she graduated with a degree in Theatre Arts.
Her work on the stage and screen earned her an international reputation as one of the Soviet Union’s most beautiful, charming and talented performers.
Although she had already gained popularity in Lithuania as a theatre and screen actress with numerous parts, it was the films Intergirl, Cynics and Moscow Nights that brought her fame countrywide.
1992-1993
Ingeborga’s appearance in The Cynics and the stylish film noir Katia Ismailova/Moscow Nights (Best Actress Award at Geneva IFF, Russian Film Academy Award NIKA for Best Actress) caught the eye of international critics.
1994
Her role in Nikita Mikhalkov’s remarkable Burnt by the Sun (1994, Oscar, Best Foreign Film; Grand Prix de Jury, Cannes) earned her international critical acclaim and a Best Film Actress award from the Moscow film critics association in 1994.
1996-1997
The following years brought high-profile appearances in major international productions, including Brian de Palma’s Mission
Impossible and Jean-Jacques Annaud’s Seven Years in Tibet.
2003
Ingeborga appeared in Emily Young’s Kiss of Life which premiered at the Film Festival in Cannes, where she also served as a member of the Festival’s Cinéfondation and Short Films Jury that year. She appeared in films of notable success such as 25 Degrees of Winter, which won the Audience Award at the 2004 edition of the Berlin International Film Festival.
2007-2010
Ingeborga played leading parts in 5 Russian films, Juice d’Orange by Andrey Proshkin, Morfy by Alexey Balabanov and Winter Will not Come by Ilja Demichev to name a few.
2009
She played roles in French film L’Affaire Farewell, directed by Christian Carion and American “30 Beats”, directed by Alexis Lloyd.
2014
She appeared on the Moscow stage at The Theatre of Nations in critically acclaimed performance “Janna”.
Ingeborga served as a member of the Jury at Berlin, Cannes, Cairo and Venice International Film Festivals.
For many years Ingeborga has been active in charity. For more than 8 years she has been acting as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Hospice Fund “Vera”.
While pursuing her successful career on screen, Ingeborga has continued to develop a very active career on the international stage. Among many noteworthy performances have been those starring opposite John Malkovich in Slip of the Tongue, which opened in Chicago at the Steppenwolf Theatre and subsequently moved to London, in Libra at the Steppenwolf Theatre directed by John Malkovich. She appeared in the first Kevin Spacy theatre production Cloaca at The Old Vic Theatre in London.
Most recently she starred opposite John Malkovich in Jacomo Variations, which has toured in Austria, USA, France, Germany, Russia, Australia, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Canada, Equador
