April Marie Salazar For Luxury Trending
April Marie Salazar has always had a natural talent for storytelling and a drive for creating change. That talent and drive turned into a passion for books, children’s and novels alike. As a published author, she now gets to share her written stories with the world. She is the owner and founder of RAZALAS Publishing LLC, where she’s published three amazing children’s books with two currently in the works. She has completed her first novel, Virtually Yours, Rosalie, which recently launched. April is currently working on a collection of short stories, a memoir, based on the adversity of her own past entitled, Girl from the Southside, with completion expected within the next six months.
Her mother Sandy is her biggest influence because she single-handedly prevented the family from suffering extreme poverty, worked her way up in the medical field, and raised three college graduates – something that had never been achieved in the family.
April, who is part European, Hispanic, and native American, graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX, with a degree in English Communications. She studied Broadcast Journalism, and was the first on both sides of her family to graduate with a college degree.
Her personal quote and daily mantra, “In a world where everyone seems to be drowning, one simply needs to learn to breathe underwater.”
Although April has only been in Houston for 5 years, her natural passion for creating change aided her philanthropic support of numerous organizations. She serves on the American Heart Association Executive Leadership Team Committee, and as Wine Auction Co-Chair for AHA’S Heart Ball. She was part of the Inaugural American Heart Association Leaders for Life Campaign, and is chairing the KNOWAutism Gala in April of 2023. She is actively involved with Houston’s Heart Gift, Literacy Now, and Houston Children’s Heart Institute, and supports Be An Angel, Help Cure HD, and Houston Children’s Charity. April received the Outstanding Leader Award with Mindful Business Women, and an LCA Magazine Honoree award.
She has been recognized by Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick in recognition of her service to the Angel Awards Gala in 2019, the FBI National Citizens Academy Alumni Association for her outstanding support on the planning committee for the 2019 FBINCAAA event, and by Council Member Huffman for her dedication to the sense of community and a positive relationship between her neighborhood residents and law enforcement.
April was recently recognized by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, and received the Pillar of Excellence Award from Houston Business Women for her contribution to Houston’s philanthropic efforts spanning an array of charities and organizations. She is also active in the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church Women’s Guild, and the St. Michael’s PLUS program at her children’s school.
Of all her accolades, she says her greatest achievements stem from being a mom of four and proud wife to Dr. Jorge Salazar.
If someone were to play April in a movie about her life she says it would be Julia Roberts,
Lisa Kudrow, or Hailey Bieber, actors in which friends have said she resembles.
