Alexis “Fly” Jones
Award-winning TV producer turned media personality Alexis “Fly” Jones’ name initially made airwaves when she served as a Top 10 market producer for KHOU Ch.11’s “Great Day Houston” with host Deborah Duncan, for 8 years. In 2021, she became a household name when she stepped from behind the camera to the front as a cast member and fan-favorite from Will Packer’s hit show “Ready To Love: Season 4,” premiering on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
Her feisty, go-getter and witty personality sparked an array of reviews while on the show, and developed a platform that exudes confidence, style and grace. As a result, you can often find Alexis serving on the mic as an emcee, mistress of ceremony, panelist, empowerment speaker and moderator, hosting various events for major brands and Top Fortune Companies. Her affinity to “werk” the runway in her daily life, has been recognized by her community, citing her personal style as one of the “Top Stylish Houstonians” by the Houston Chronicle.
A sorority girl and advocate for women empowerment, Alexis is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., serving formerly as a local Chapter President. She is a giver and mentor at best… boasting numerous board associations, including the Houston Association of Black Journalists and HSPVA Black Alumni Network. Alexis was recently honored as CORE Magazine’s “100 Most Influential Blacks Today” and honored by the City of Houston for her service to the community. Additionally, she was recently named by her Alma Mater as Clark Atlanta University’s ‘Top 40 Under 40’ in 2022.
Graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2007, Alexis received her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media from Clark Atlanta University, which she says prepared her for 15 successful years of experience within the media and entertainment industry. Her wide experience in media and entertainment includes formerly serving as a Vice-President for a public relations firm, working for Music World Entertainment (formerly Beyoncé Knowles & Destiny Child’s Management Company), and Guerrilla Tactics Media (producer of BET’s reality show “Master of the Mix”).
As a TV producer, Alexis is widely known for compelling storytelling that brings positive attention to various community issues and organizations. Her personal delight is highlighting the success in the African-American community, while featuring inspirational stories and service to others.
As a result, her love for news producing merged with social action led her to take on a role as a morning show producer for the nationally-syndicated news show “Start Your Day”, hosted by Sharon Reed and Mike Hill on the Black News Channel (BNC). She remained there shortly before it folded in 2022. Her very first short film titled “Dear BLK Son,” a poetic film that shares a mother’s powerful letter to her son during the nation’s climate, earned her a Silver Telly award, the highest achievement at the time. The film was created as a message to her own young son, as she began to ponder on the conversations she would have to share with him now and in the future on race relations. The film premiered on TEGNA’s CBS-TV local affiliate during the 57th anniversary of the March on Washington in 2020. Later, she was tapped to co-produce another short film titled “Hear Our Voices” for Comcast, a Fortune 30 company, winning two additional Telly Awards.
Today, she is the Video Producer Manager for Comcast NBCUniversal in which she creates video content for six regions of the company’s West Division. This year for the first time, Comcast’s Texas’ Region hit 1 million views on video content that highlights community work. This is partly due to her talent and contributions as a producer and the contributions of the entire Creative Services team.
Her personal brand affectionately known as Alexis “Fly,” is a play on style and fashion and a nickname given to her during her time in college. Growing up in Houston, TX, playing dress up and styling her Barbie dolls from head-to-toe was a highlight of her youth. That girly activity grew and set the stage for the destiny afforded over her life. A sought after empowerment speaker, her purpose is to encourage many to fly high and to do it with style and grace! Her “stage” name has elevated, and now sets out to inspire individuals to have full assurance in themselves, which she believes starts with the ability to F.L.Y.! First Love Yourself.
