In today’s society, how do you foster a community of people who lift each other up?

I would say by encouraging their efforts, giving them support, giving them praises on their successes, and also giving them insights or perspective on what would make their business and their efforts better in what they’re doing. Actually taking a general interest and connecting them with other people. Number one is truly caring about others. This is what helps foster any community. Most people watch without taking action, and so many choose not to engage or choose not to get involved in helping others, but I believe what you give is what you get. As a society, we can always do more to help those around us.

As a successful business woman and Latina, what’s the most important lessons you’ve learned in life and why?

Success is sacrifice. You have to do what others don’t want to do to reach your goals. Failure is not an option. I think something that lasts takes longer to build and create a great foundation. You can’t build a house on a bad foundation. I’ve learned that getting rich quick or an overnight success is very far between. During the duration of this journey, I learned that I shouldn’t expect things to go a certain way, and sometimes the only way is to roll up your sleeves and make things happen for yourself. Set all expectations aside, and just go get it.

You’re known for being the Texas Title Queen in real estate, but you also run many events in Houston. Can you tell us more about the social events and how you came into that industry?

Real estate is really, really hot here in Texas in general so putting together events seemed to go hand in hand with my business. Putting on events being hosted at homes, fundraisers, Galas, silent auctions, or just inviting my network of clients throughout the years to be involved in different events seemed to come very natural and in-line with what I already do. Again, giving back to the community and supporting those individuals that have done business with me has been a great way to bring good causes to good people.

What are your top social etiquette tips for any events?

Always bring your best attitude and confidence to any event. Remember the event details you are attending whether it be a casual gathering or upscale, black tie event, it’s important to dress accordingly. These details may seem small, but could potentially affect your business networking at the event and perceived as though you don’t pay attention to information. Also, being fifteen minutes early is on time, and being on-time is usually being late!

As a social queen and businesswoman, what are your secrets from going to board meetings to a social event at night?

It helps to keep a back-up outfit in your vehicle from an evening cocktail attire or a little black dress, and a nice pair of shoes for emergencies. A nice bag, a nice pair of heels, and just be your fabulous self.

Can you share with us your favorite locations for any social gathering in Houston?

There are many many beautiful venues here in Houston. My go-to for dinners or a formal cocktail event would be Gatsby’s.I also like Ouisie’s Table for a brunch party, high tea, or daytime event. I even had my baby shower there. Another location that I think is really great is 51fifteen, which is by Saks Fifth Avenue. Last but not least, there is my venue which is called Bella Luna which is an incredible place also to host any kind of event from birthday parties, graduations, cocktail parties, as well as daytime events. We allow it to stay open until the wee hours of the morning because we want to cater to your personal event experience without the restrictions or time constraints of a restaurant.

What’s the secret to having a work-life balance for you?

I have to start my mornings early, and I like to prioritize my day by having a schedule that I adhere to. I think every person who has a very hectic work schedule, along with family and social calendars to balance, should always have their day planned out from from the very start of the day so you’re not just aimlessly roaming in the sea not knowing what to do because that can be total chaos. For me to have balance, I like having quiet time with myself, giving myself at least eight hours a week for my own personal well being and my spiritual well being.

From red carpets to closing business deals, what are your favorite go-to fashion styling accessories for any event?

I can wear anything from a small boutique, designer outfit, or Macy’s department store but my go to are a nice set of red bottom heels, a great designer handbag with a little bit of bling, and some big earrings. You can throw on some nice diamond earrings which can take any ensemble from a business suit to a cocktail dress, and I’m ready to go.

How do you see the life of Rachel Luna shaping over the next five years, and are there any upcoming events or projects you’d like to share with our readers?

Over the next five years, I plan to continue to motivate the fellow business women out there, and giving light to areas that need to be addressed. I want to continue giving back to my community and various charities I support. I’m currently working on a book this year as well. I think my journey has really just begun and I would like to continue to build my legacy and create a pathway for more women to rise up and be supported.

Lastly, can you tell us about how you give back to your community and why it’s important to you?

Number one, I do a big campaign for Dress for Success. Most of us out there, we just collect our clothes or throw them away, but there’s so many young women out there that need business clothes to start their careers and they just don’t have the means to do it. I do a big campaign every year for Dress for Success because I came from a very impoverished upbringing, and I know the impact this can have for a person. And we give those proceeds to dress for success. We also do a big collection for Albans woman here and he sent to collect business attire to give to young girls. Also, I do a big campaign for Toys for Tots where we collect toys for families around holidays. At my company, we have an open door policy for people of all backgrounds whether it’s women who don’t have degrees, or people who need a fresh start. We believe in giving people second chances at life because one person has the power to affect the lives of many more around them.
