Mexico City, September 27, 2022 – Actor Arap Bethke returns to the cinema with ‘Mal de Ojo’ the first horror film by Mexican filmmaker Isaac Ezban, where he shares credits with actress Ofelia Medina.
“Mal de ojo is a 100 percent Mexican film, it is not just any production, because it is a project that seeks to take up one of the best known legends in Mexican culture: witches. It’s a very well-crafted folk horror story directed by Isaac Ezban,” Bethke said.
The histrionic who said he felt honored to work again with actress Ofelia Medina, added, “It is not another story of witchcraft, covens and demons, but a dark and sinister story that comes to Mexican movie theaters to show that in this country you can also be scared.”
In this film, in addition to sharing credits with an actress of the stature of Ofelia Medina, who has more than 50 films of Mexican cinema, also participate: Paola Miguel, Samatha Castillo, Ivanna Sofía Ferro, Paloma Alvamar and Victoria Guerrero. In his first horror feature film, Isaac Ezban tackles a legendary legend that leads us to recognize that there are eternal curses, that can pass generations, that can take their toll when you least expect it. A film that surprises not only for its manufacture but for the way it approaches the story, managing to create an empathy with the viewer and lead him, despite not reinventing anything, to be interested in what is narrated.
