New York, NY – November 28, 2022 – Celebrating the sport and legacy of the Samba silhouette, adidas Originals and Pharrell Williams unveil the new Humanrace™ Capsule Collection. The Capsule Collection is a recreation of the iconic Samba using premium materials, while the apparel is inspired by adidas’ rich football history with jerseys, shorts and ripstop jackets.
Bringing appropriate simplicity to adidas x Pharrell’s trusted palettes, Night Gray and Cloud White pay tribute to the classic Samba in a way that’s modern for a new-gen model. The shoes use the finest leathers and suedes, the material of the tongue has been changed to molded leather and the three stripes have been given zigzag stitching to mimic the original Samba.
The garments feature timeless colors and signature down print details. The knit jersey and long sleeve jersey will be available in three colourways: Night Grey, Semi-Scream Green and Cloudy White and Black, Cloudy White and Dull Orange respectively. The two create a nostalgic connection to football culture by exploring timeless colors and archival cut lines.
The Woven Shorts are made from premium, soft woven fabric with a minimalist approach and come in Night Grey, Semi Screaming Green and Hazy Orange colourways.
Available in midnight gray and bright yellow, the shell jacket and pants take wearers straight to the pitch. They’re crafted from classic ripstop for superior performance.
The campaign’s modern and contemporary images, photographed by Gabriel Moses, use the heritage of the Samba shoe as a backdrop to bring contemporary sportswear into today’s fashion and streetwear. Patterns on a textured background enhance the collection’s vibrant colors and playfully pair with preppy football kit elements.
