SOFIA VICTORIA OCAMPO, Miss Teen Universe Colombia 2022 For DRESSY TEEN Magazine
Sofia Victoria Ocampo was born in Miami on February 1, 2004. Her first years of school were spent at South Miami K-8 Center, where she still has childhood friends. At the age of 6 she went to live in Colombia, at age 13 she did a student exchange in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and is currently studying her university career as a Social Communicator – Journalist at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana of Colombia.
Since childhood Sofia has practiced ballet, her first classes were taken at Miami Conservatory of Ballet, she has also shown passion for sports practiced such as horse riding, cheerleading, athletics, soccer and volleyball. She has been a Model United Nations ambassador, representing her Clermont School and now her university.
Sofia is our current Teen Universe Colombia 2022 and this mont she will compete for the world crown in Spain, to whom we wish thousands of successes ! It is a pleasure to have it adorning this wonderful international cover; her preparation was directed by the group of preparation of queens and models Renace Fashion Studio in charge of the renowned trainer Gerson Sarmiento (who has in his resume two viceroys at the national level, in Miss Universe Colombia, Miss World Colombia, and queens in Miss Venezuela), Laura Rentería director of Renace and Jessica Carmona commercial director.

DRESSY TEEN
1.At what point does your taste for beauty contests begin?
I grew up in a home of queens, my paternal grandmother was queen, my aunt represented the country in Miss Universe and a cousin was also a candidate for Miss Colombia, so in my house the subject was always touched and sometimes they asked me if I was going to follow the legacy.
2. How was your preparation process?
It was very intense. Catwalk classes, dance, oratory, body language. Intense days of makeup, photos and runaways.
3. According to you, what are the most important values that a Miss should have?
I believe that one of the most important values that a Miss should project is equality, respect for others and for difference, at all levels: cultural, physical, race, personality. In everything and everyone there is always beauty.
4. Why can a Queen Teen be a positive or negative example for young women?
Because we are representatives and examples of youth and if we act with values we will surely be a positive model for those young people who follow us through different platforms.
5. What qualities do you think you must have to wear a crown?
Simplicity, sympathy, closeness to everyone and charisma to be able to bring a message of hope, love, happiness to the whole universe.
6. If you had to give a title to your life story, what title would you give it and why?
The happiness of smiling. Because I believe in the power of a smile. A smile from love breaks borders, paradigms, sadness, changes behaviors.
7. What would you say to young people who face bullying so they can deal with it?
That we all have qualities and defects, that no one is perfect and that we have to empower ourselves and bring out the best in ourselves, no matter what they attack us for. We have to love and respect ourselves, this is the most powerful tool to shield ourselves from attacks.
8. The COVID pandemic has been a great tragedy in many places, how can young people help during this crisis that the country is experiencing?
I believe that we were all affected by the confinement because many of the best days of our youth were in confinement, because many plans remained on paper, but that made us stronger, helped us to transform, to reinvent ourselves, to adapt to changes and to see in technological tools an ally to break borders and get closer to a globalized world.
9. Speaking a little more about your personal life, what plans do you like to make when you are not in reign and school activities?
Now my University occupies my most time. I am finishing the second semester of Social Communication and Journalism at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Colombia and apart from the classes I belong to the Model United Nations of my house of studies, which, although I am passionate, involves a lot of work, also, I am part of the football team of the Faculty, I am also taking Portuguese classes at the Cultural Institute of Brazil. In my free time I also love to share with my friends and family, I am always making plans to have fun.
10. How do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself doing a Master’s degree somewhere in the world and in that place I will be involved in some social service project. That was an earring I wanted to do when the pandemic started and it was to go to a distant place in the world to do social service, so when I have the opportunity I will do it.
11. What plans are coming for this year 2023?
If I were to win the crown of Teen Universe, I think a lot of things would change, because I have to travel and generally fulfill the duties of the contest. But if it does not happen, I will continue with my university studies and maybe do an exchange, for now I would like to go to Brazil to perfect my Portuguese.
12. What message do you leave with DRESSY TEEN readers?
That life is beautiful. That they study because this is the best way to have the necessary tools to fulfill our dreams. Let them be good people, with values, because the world needs us.
