The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is made for cornering; designed for lateral acceleration and incomparable driving dynamics. With production nearing its halfway point and the 30th car recently delivered to a new owner, Bugatti is celebrating the performance range of the Chiron family, which sees the Pur Sport as its most agile member, with “Drifting The C,” an iconic DNA spin characterizes -off-line design.
The route is set. The air is still. Nightly rains make the asphalt slippery and glisten in the morning sun. The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport1 awaits near the middle of the track, ready to perform the perfectly controlled and precise maneuver that is only possible with the combination of Pur Sport performance and stability. An advanced all-wheel drive system is ready to channel all the fury of 1500 horsepower. and 1,600 Nm delivered by one of the most innovative powertrains ever: the 8.0-litre W16.
The challenge for the Chiron Pur Sport and its experienced driver – Bugatti’s senior development and chassis engineer – is to engage all four wheels in a controlled spin that describes the perfect arc that forms the famous Bugatti C-Line when viewed from above . This recognizable design feature has defined the elegance of Bugatti style for decades, which can be seen on the Veyron and Chiron2 as well as the creations of Jean Bugatti. The distinctive C-line, which gently elongates the car from the side while filling it with a flow that gives the impression of movement even when at rest, was used to great effect in the design of its earliest creation, Type 50, right through to to the famous series Type 57.
With the engine running, the W16 Pur Sport pulls away, all four tires smoking as it picks up speed and quickly shifts through the transmission. Its driver turns the steering wheel and gently causes the Pur Sport to skid by stepping on the gas pedal. When you turn, tire smoke oozes out of all four wheel arches, the character of the Chiron Pur Sport is clear: precise, controlled and powerful. With an instant tap of the steering wheel and accelerator, the driver completes his drift with perfection, leaving the Bugatti C-Line as a large letter on the pavement.
“With this demonstration we are celebrating the unrivaled handling of the Chiron Pur Sport. One of the most agile vehicles ever built in our product portfolio, built and precise allowing it to perform controlled skid movements on all four wheels. From the very first try to the last drive at dusk it has done it time and time again, the Chiron Pur Sport has proven it time and time again, repeating the feat even as the tires were pushed to their limits and the hyper sports car was subjected to increasing loads . high temperatures and enormous side loads,” said Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles.
“Pur Sport has become a customer favorite for its purposeful performance and clean driving performance. It was right that Pur Sport was chosen as a Chiron model to pay homage to our legendary signature line of this ambitious C-Drift,” added Piochon.
Each model in the Chiron family has been carefully refined and optimized to deliver exceptional performance across the entire driving range. With 1500 hp W16 engine. and the advanced Pur Sport all-wheel drive feels best on narrow and twisty roads. Like all Chiron models, the Pur Sport proudly displays the famous Bugatti C-Line that defines the profile of every Bugatti.
In element a main layout ideation, the sideline C is likewise hired to decorate overall performance parameters, having been born out of the need to boom air flow in Bugatti’s 16-cylinder models. At window level, smooth air float reaches the Pur Sport from at the back of the A-pillar. The C-line gets the air, that is then channeled thru the wheel arch and pumped out the rear of the auto The facet line is found out through the use of a 2.eight meter trim strip composed from a completely unique aluminum alloy.
The Chiron Pur Sport channels stellar overall performance at some stage in the complete pace range. Its weight has been decreased through 50 kg, whilst its downforce ability has been significantly boosted, understanding a sports-targeted person and most desirable suspension setup.
Sven Bohnhorst, an experienced Bugatti development driver who drifted C, remembers: “The handling of the Chiron Pur Sport with all-wheel drive is excellent. You as the driver decide whether to spin the rear axle to make the car turn or whether you want to stabilize it with more front slip by simply balancing it with the throttle. You can also turn all four wheels at the same time – just as you like it! That’s what I call a car that was built for drivers.”
The Pur Sport seven-speed dual-clutch transmission has undergone fundamental changes: the Bugatti engineers have optimized many components and shortened the gears by a total of 15 percent.
The Chiron Pur Sport has a chassis with 65% stiffer springs at the front and 33% harder at the rear. It also features a performance-oriented adaptive damping control strategy, as well as heavily modified camber values (front +115%; rear +150%; camber adjusted to -2.5 degrees) to guarantee even more dynamic handling, increased performance and additional agility in corners. .
An interpretation of Bugatti’s “Form Follows Performance” principle, the Chiron Pur Sport offers traction, thanks in part to less unsprung masses – thanks to lightweight magnesium alloy wheels that together save 16 kg – and further strengthens the three-way bond between driver and car Road.
The Chiron Pur Sport stays incredibly fast on the straights. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 5.9 seconds. Shorter gear ratios also enable acceleration from 60 to 120 km/h in sixth gear in just 4.4 seconds.
“With these cutting-edge features encompassing power, agility, lateral dynamics and sheer performance, the Pur Sport is a Chiron designed and engineered to handle the most extreme situations with absolute precision, grace and ease.” added by Christophe Piochon.
Chiron Pur Sport “Drifted in C” in conditions that ensure the complete safety of the entire team, including the professional pilot who was behind the wheel. It was performed on a track only Bugatti had access to during the event.
