HARLEM, NEW YORK; January 12, 2023 – The long-awaited second edition of the PUMA and Dapper Dan collaboration follows their first exclusive Kith release in October 2022. The five-piece limited edition collection combines PUMA’s athletic heritage with Dapper Dan’s exquisite craftsmanship in apparel and footwear.
The new PUMA x Dapper Dan collection takes inspiration from the pre-game runway, with a luxe recycled aesthetic complemented by knitted materials and monograms throughout. The collection includes classic Clyde sneakers, a T7 tracksuit with a crazy PUMA x Dap logo, two t-shirts and a reversible quilted jacket with a bold PUMA Dap graphic, rhinestones and a collaboration logo. In Dapper Dan’s true form, he took inspiration from his Harlem roots for the second drop, reflecting on the importance of self-expression and what it has looked like to him over the years.
Since the early 80s, Dap has pioneered design, blending icons to create its own style. What started when he sold his luxury items out of the trunk of his car, led to him wrapping cars to his design for his hip hop clientele, and eventually opening a workshop. that people come to live the Harlem experience to the fullest. ;
During this time, in the heart of Harlem, Dap encouraged self-expression through style and design, while others in the community were doing the same with jazz. Dapper Dan is quoted as saying, “I did what hip-hop did to music, what jazz did to music, what we always did to music.” As a tribute to this vibrant time in his community, Dap used Jazz and his iconic cars for this campaign.
In parallel with the release of this five-piece capsule collection, Dapper Dan has redesigned the interior of the PUMA Jet with a PUMA x Dapper Dan print, co-branded logo accessories and materials from the latest collaboration. Speaking of the continued growth and development of his projects, Dap says, “We flew in with a dog, and now we travel with a bird,” recalling the days when the bus was his primary mode of transportation, and now his projects fly in den sky in a PUMA plane. .
